Nicholas Kok

was an organ scholar at New College, Oxford, and studied conducting and correpititorship at the Royal College of Music, London. Among the orchestras with which he has worked are the BBC Symphony Orchestra, the Gewandhaus Orchestra Leipzig, the London Philharmonic Orchestra, the London Sinfonietta, the Munich Chamber Orchestra and the Radio Symphony Orchestra Berlin. Among the opera houses at which he has worked are English National Opera, those in Graz, Cologne, and Leipzig, Opera North in England, Stuttgart State Theatre and the Teatro Sao Carlos in Lissabon. As a conductor and coach Nicholas Kok has been active in many different academies and colleges. Since 2011 he has been teaching in the opera department of the Stuttgart College for Music and Theatre. His most recent projects were recordings with the BBC singers, a CD with works by Errolyn Wallen and a production of Handel’s opera Semele in Hong Kong, as well as the world premières of the operas “Pleasure” by Mark Simpson and “The Golden Dragon” by Peter Eötvös.
