Youth Choir St. Marien Osnabrück

The Youth Choir St. Marien Osnabrück emerged in early 2015 from the children’s choir of the parish of the same name. The approximately 40 young singers, who come from all over the city, are between the ages of 12 and 20. Rehearsals are held once a week, and a two-day rehearsal retreat once a year provides additional time for singing and working together.
The choir is affiliated with an Evangelical Lutheran parish and regularly participates in church services. In addition, its concerts have made it a fixture in the cultural life of the city of Osnabrück. The Youth Choir regularly participates in oratorio performances by the Marienkantorei Osnabrück. As an independent ensemble, it performs both works for choir and orchestra as well as a cappella programs. The choir has also staged various musicals.
An integral part of the choir’s mission is to expand the personal expressive range and vocal technical abilities of all young people. At the same time, the choir is a place where, beyond collaborative creative activity, vibrant, democratic, and peaceful coexistence is practiced and promoted. At the 2026 Youth Chamber Choir Encounter, the St. Marien Osnabrück Youth Choir will be enriched by singers from the youth choir of the Moritzberg Singing School in Hildesheim (conducted by Ute Benhöfer).
