April Girls Choir

The choir “April” exists within the framework of the additional education at the Gatchina Education Centre. It is a school of choral music but also offers a full set of academic subjects. The uniqueness of the choir consists in the fact that children are recruited at the age of five and stay together till they graduate from the music school. Groups from this school have repeatedly won prizes at international competitions. The choir has actively taken, and still takes, part in international festivals and competitions, winning the following awards: first and second prize at the International Festival of Sacred Music in Kaunas, (Lithuania); Grand Prix at the Russian choral competition “Herzen Choral Assemblies”, St Petersburg; first prize at the International Choral Festival Contest “Musical Spring”, St Petersburg; first prize at the International Choir Festival in Neerpelt (Belgium); first prize at the International Choral Competition “Sounds Moscow” in Moscow (Russia). The choir has participated in many choral festivals: Cantoniros (Spain), Calella (Spain, Wolfenbüttel (Germany) and Loretto (Italy).
