Anne Kohler

Germany

is a Professor of Choral Conducting at Detmold College of Music. There she is in charge of the chamber choir as well as of the vocal ensemble “Pop-up”, and she looks after a class of students whose first study is choral conducting. She trained as a music teacher at secondary schools but also studied conducting and singing, supplementing her education by attending courses led by Eric Ericsson, Frieder Bernius, Volker Hempfling, Tonu Kaljuste, Jens Johannsen and members of the “Real Group”. Preparing choirs for Marcus Creed, Pierre Boulez, Roger Norrington and Ingo Metzmacher led her to involvement with the vocal ensemble of Southwest German Radio and the Radio Choir Berlin. With various choirs she has won national and international competitions. Her aim is to work at a high standard, both musically and vocally, but always, at the same time, to expand her overview of the variety of styles in (choral) music.
