Mårten Jansson

Sweden

lives and works as a composer and a voice, music theory and conducting teacher and conductor at GUC in Uppsala where he also was born. He studied Musicology at the Uppsala University and Music Education (MFA) at the Royal College of Musik in Stockholm. In 1994 he started to conduct the female choir Carmen and conducted them until they decided to disunite 2010. This is the biggest reason why most of his earlier compositions are for female choirs. 2014 Bärenreiter Verlag, Kassel, Germany began publishing his sacred choral works. His music has been described as “so sad that it sounds like birds who have lost their wings” and ”the happiest classical music we ever heard”. His compositions consist of almost only sacral music to express his own faith but also the appreciation and respect for the timeless texts that have been used for centuries after centuries.
