Youth Choir of the Deutsche Oper Berlin

The Youth Choir of the Deutsche Oper Berlin was founded in 2013 to provide an opportunity for boys going through puberty and women over the age of 16 who had to leave the opera’s children’s choir to continue pursuing their passion for choral singing. The Youth Choir now boasts a rich and varied repertoire, which it showcases at various performances and concerts. A real highlight is the annual (always sold-out) Christmas concert with the Chamber Symphony Berlin.

In addition, the Youth Choir maintains close friendships with other choirs, including the Turin-based choir Giovani Cantori di Torino, with whom they held a joint concert at Berlin’s Memorial Church. The choir’s diverse portfolio also includes a successful competition entry (2nd place) in 2023 at the 12th International Johannes Brahms Choir Festival, as well as a recently staged opera production: As part of the opera “Die Drei Rätsel” by Detlev Glanert, the Young Choir performed on the main stage of the German Opera Berlin and impressed both audiences and critics with its musical and theatrical qualities.
